Let' me make one thing perfectly clear. The seminars were held at
the instigation and with the encouragement of the AKC. Ask me why.
I'll tell you and not wait for you to ask. It is because the AKC has
lost so much money from low registrations, that they proposed to the dog
fancy a couple of years ago that we embrace the "commercial breeders."
This term was coined, in fact, after the AKC said we should welcome the
large volume breeders. Hunte was at the top of the list of the people
AKC wanted us to welcome into the fold...all so that the AKC could get
more registration money.
For the same reason, AKC decided this past year to enter into a
contract with Petland...the idea was that AKC employees would go to the
Petland stores and instruct the sales personnel how to get the puppies
registered (with AKC, of course) before the buyers left the
stores...because many people don't send in their registrations.
The only reason AKC loves Hunte is because his business represents
(AKC hopes) more income for the AKC. The Petland thing was because so
many of the puppies there don't get registered, and some that do don't
get AKC registered...they come from puppymills and are registered with
all sorts of bogus agencies.
THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is why the seminars took place at
all. Otherwise, Hunte employees have a one week course in how to tell
one breed from the other, etc.
and the rest is baloney.
I am not the only person in the world with this knowledge.
This information has been all over the dog magazines for the past few
years, since AKC first started telling us we had to love the large
volume (commercial) breeders...and no one is buying it. Oh, excuse
me...apparently there are a couple of German Shepherd Dog Club of
America Board Members who bought it.......
It's all about the money. Maybe one or two of our Board thought
some of the money would trickle down to the GSDCA, too. I'm not buying
that, not for a minute.
Then again, there are those who will do anything for money. I'm not
calling anybody any names, but the W word comes to mind.........
If there are other people on this list who read Dog News, Show
Sight, or the Canine Chronicle, or who are in touch with the dog world
outside of this breed, they will back me up on this...all this stuff
about Hunte was well known and widely discussed. Our club letting him
in has started it all over again.
