When you agree to judge, they give you the book of the  standards.  I was 
to judge the French Dague De Bordeaux on time. On  Saturday in the morning 
show they were bringing in the top breeder of the breed  to judge them, from 
France. I was to judge them on Sunday.  I studied the  standard for a week, 
and I think we had about 60 entered.  After I judged,  this little woman came 
up to me and grabbed my arm and with a strong French  accent exclaimed, 
"You put up the same BOB I did."  I was relieved.
 
At ARBA there are few handlers. Most of the breeds are from one breeder who 
 brings the owners to handle.  We do four shows in a weekend and use four  
judges. So, each judge does every breed, every group and one Best In Show. 
By  the end of the weekend I am bushed.
 
If you have never attended an ARBA show, be sure to do so.
 
And, as for Kathy's bitch, she is a pussycat.  Try judging a class of  
Neapolitian Mastiffs, then some Fila Brasileiros and finish up with some  
Maremma-Abbruzzes.
