Not all wonderful puppies stay wonderful, no matter what your
personal experience has been...there are many more who do not live up to
their early promise...and there are even more who go thru stages.
Once, at a winter specialty, a youngster entered under me who'd been
Best Puppy at the National.
On the day I had him, his front could have been in the next county for
all the use it was to him.
I do NOT know what happened to him later, whether he grew up to
finish or not...but at the specialty I was judging, there were a LOT of
judges watching, including one who has judged the National many
times...they agreed with my assessment of the puppy...and they had
agreed with his win at the National, too.
