She is very active. VERY. She lives outside. She doesnt get cookies or treats.
4 cups was fine until she was spayed

Is she active? If she is NOT active, 4 cups is too much, as you clearly see by
her size. You can substitute 1/2 cup of food at each meal with some green
beans. This will lower the calorie intact and fill her up as well. Are you
feeding twice per day?
She needs more excercise, too. And, NO doggie cookies or snacks.
Also - have you had her thyroid checked?

I have a question as well.. I have a spayed bitch.. 3 yrs old. She was
spayed after a disastrous breeding a couple of years ago. (unplanned, dead
puppies).
She is healthy, very healthy.. she eats 4 cups of food a day..
Problem is.. she is HUGE!!! I mean GI-NORMOUS. She is one of those big fat
"pet" bitches we see and cringe over because you couldn't find ribs no
matter how hard you tried.. I shudder to think how heavy she is. She gets
lots of exercise, is very active. I have put on "doggy diet" food, but I am
not cutting down her amount - I refuse to let a dog be hungry and 4 cups is
not that much... it hasn't done anything...
Any ideas? Why is she so massive, do you think?

Spay them. We always spay "older" bitches and my vet has removed the
uteruses, many times with tumors, etc on them. And those dogs lived good
long lives after being spayed. If you have males, you won't be driving them
crazy with bitches going into season. LOL
