Steve,
Regardless about the teeth.......I have had Mom's that almost tear the
door down to get to her pups and they are 8 weeks old! Do I deny her access
to them? Absolutely not.........she wants her babies, she has her babies.
She sucks it up, and she nurses them. That is HER choice, they are HER pups.
I would NEVER keep a Mom from her pups........this is SUCH a special
bonding/ teaching time for the kids. Mom has lessons to teach and it goes
WELL beyond just feeding them. My Mom's sleep in the pen with them as long
as SHE wants. She needs the cuddle time as much as the pups do. Nothing
prettier than to see them all nestled in the pine shavings....and she is
licking one......and smacking another cause they misbehaved. Years later
when the pups come to visit, their Moms remember them. This breeding thing
is about the MOMS......Listen to them and let them be my guide. They don't
want with the pups....so be it. To date...and that is almost 16 years, my
Moms want their pups as often as possible. Mo
We start weaning at 3 weeks, and if they are
