we have gotten off on some kind of tangent here.
i just looked at paula's ad. if i were new to the sport of dogs, i would
learn, from the ad alone, that harley has finished his AKC championship,
been herding tested, temperament certified and is OFA'd hips and elbows. i
would know who owns harley and who has handled him, in what "type" of arena
he has been shown and the names of some judges who have given him a win.
now, paula says she is not a breeder - nothing wrong with that - not
everyone wants to breed, can breed or should breed. it's a matter of choice
and
that's always good. BUT, again, if i am brand new to this and think that
i might like to buy a dog like harley, i will not recognize the kennel name
(if i even know what a kennel name is), "asgard" - i will not know that
evan and tedi bred this dog. i will not know who harley's sire and dam are.
paula is correct in that anyone can make a call. but, let's face it, we
aren't always terrifically kind to newbies and some have been treated less
than well. maybe there is someone out there who has their foundation bitch
and absolutely falls in love with harley because they saw paula's ad.
they don't have enough info on harley as a potential sire for a litter because
they have no pedigree info at all. i think that most of us were simply
trying to say that certain info is invaluable to the fancier and the pedigree
is the basis of that info.
i'm probably going to get flamed for this but i am thankful that paula put
harley's full registered name in her ad and NOT just his call name. I have
seen too many ads that seem to be targeting the absence of the breeder -
it's petty, nasty and those of us who have been around for what feels like
forever are completely turned off by it. we are also savvy as to who is
doing this and why.

You don't have to knock me upside the head more than 3or 10 times before I
learn my lesson!! If there isn't any room for proud owners/exhibitors,
so be it.
Keep breeding and I hope you find lots of us suckers to spend their money
building your ROM's and other records. I can easily find other places to
spend my money.
