Pressure has been used for a long time to relax cattle when they are being lead
to slaughter, to be vaccinated or to be branded. The cows are first put into a
pressure chute. This really does help relax the cow and reduce stress.
Pressure has also been shown to soothe humans, especially autistic children.
There is even such a thing known as "The Hug Machine." It was created by the
famous autistic Animal Behaviorist, Temple Grandin. Oliver Sacks wrote about
Temple in his book, "An Anthropologist on Mars." BTW, this is a fascinating
book! Read it if you get the chance.

I've never used one of these one these on a dog, but if I did have a dog with
anxiety issues, I would try it.
