Here's what you're missing .... If many can not get to the national
easily,like most folks for the next three years , many will not get to see
those other dogs anyway... At least folks can get to their own regional
National! If ya do what you've always done you will get what you've always
got! Sometimes that's a good thing. Sometimes it's not. next year I won't
have any ideas or opinions on club business cuz I'll be an Ex member. Ed

The Canadian National is a more simplified version of our own as it does not
offer herding and some of the other venues...but it is looked forward to by
many in both Countries while it does sit in the same location every
year....and just a couple of weeks before our own.
A lot of ideas great to many of us as we float ideas that accommodate our
ownneeds and wishes. Just remember the Board has a P &P Manual that is
very clear on National requirements. Also we are accountable to AKC. I
really doubt they would allow us to have 2 or 3 "Regional" Nationals every
year....but then I don't really know how AKC would play into that plan.
Either way...consider this. We ( in the West ) when campaigning a dog
oftenshow it from Southern Calif....to Washington State to Utah or Arizona
orNevada depending on Futurity locations, specialty shows, points needed,
etc.
WHY would we be interested in showing the same dog against all the same dogs
we've already competed against ....and call it a National.
Someone already posted how discouraged they are because people all over the
Country are asking to see a specific dog they have at the National this
year.
How would showing the same dog in the same area competing against the same
dogs it already competed against and no one else across the Country wanting
to 'see' this dog be any different than just the same specialty shows it had
already shown at??? In other words....a West Coast National would likely
draw from Wash., Ore., Calif., Nevada, Utah, Arizona ...etc....all the same
dogs and people we see at the Specialty shows we already been to?
Not to mention that we would never see the gorgeous animals from other
areas,get to see our wonderful friends across the Country...or up and coming
puppies from breedings different that those in our own area.
What am I missing??
