While I dislike Hunte and all he stands for, and am glad not to have him as
a member of the GSDCA, I do still have a lot of respect for Gary. He has
worked many years for the GSD in specialty clubs and the parent club and
is man of integrity. I was able to meet and talk to him the two times the
Board met in Utah, and was impressed by his love for the breed and his
willingness to share his time and knowledge on our behalf.
We elect our Board members to study the issues and vote according to what
they believe is in the best interest of our breed and PC. Gary didn't cast
his
vote to "support Hunte", but because he felt it was in the best interest of
the
GSDCA.
I don't remember his specific reasons, but I recall that some of the Board
members
felt that our bylaws didn't leave them room to exclude Hunte without leaving
our
club open to a lawsuit that could seriously deplete our finances - even if
the
outcome was eventually successful.
As Gary's bio states, he has been actively involved in many programs and
clubs that
have been great for our breed, and to rule him out because of one past
situtation that
you didn't agree with is a waste.
