Hi Michelle, This sure brings back sad memories. I do not know if you remember Darla ( Ch. Scud x Devon, my Elway daughter. I had taken her to breed and when she got home there were ticks on her. I took them off and everything was fine until about six months later. All of a sudden she developed the SAME exact symtoms that poor Digger has. She was only five and had always been healthy. After two different vets and about $3000.00 I had to put her down. Nobody could figure out what was wrong with her and she was getting worse. I had to pick her up and put her in bed at night, because she could hardly walk and could not jump obviously. I was wondering if there might be some rare disease that a dog can get from a tick that the vets so not really know much about. We finally decided that she had enough and I was not going to put her through anymore. This was one month after my Elway died of bloat/torsion at 10-1/2 years of age. I was so upset after these two deaths I did not go to a dog show or even think about showing dogs for over a year. A have a vet now that there is nothing that she does not know. I really believe that if I had known her when Darla was alive she might have been cured. I am going to call Colleen this morning and give her the number. I would not suggest M.S.U. They are extremely expensive and if you do not pay them immediately they will not give you your dog untl you do.
