I'm not really into this discussion.........but this struck me. What can any Board member do for any specific State or Region? What Region or State or Club has a specific need where they need someone on the Parent Club Board to be from THAT region to solve the problem representing that region? What can a board member influence regionally? I only know of one.......and that of course could be pushing for a specific area for the National to be in their area......and everyone wants it in their area......... <G> Other than that one issue.......as Evan says....we are a Breed Club and our purpose is for the betterment and promotion and education of this specific breed. The Parent Club Board member should not be more concerned about a specific region for the success or failure of a regional club? It is the 'umbrella' over all of them. I think if the Quad Cities Club fails, or a Club in Dallas Texas fails we are ALL concerned!! I know we all want and know someone from our areas that we know to be highly qualified and trustworthy for the Board, but I don't know of any expectation we should have for them solve problems local to our areas.....? As usual ...........I am probably missing something..........? Carolyn marhaven@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx www.Marhaven.com ----- From: Stormy Hope To: da list Subject: Re: Communication and Regional Problems I may be getting more middle of the road, seeing both sides, sitting on a fence than Evan<VBG>; but I do see both sides here. YES, we are a national/(with members from other countries as well), and it would be a perfect world if each person sitting in a BOD would look at the club from a world-view. However, fantasizing that all the members came from California. Or from New Jersey. Could the rest of the members rest easy that the clubs interests from every part of the nation was being addressed? What if all the members elected to the BOD came from Canada? (JUST hypothetically, to prove a point, eh?) Or even perhaps a bit realistically, all from 4 or 5 contiguous states. I was recently in a conference call (legislative stuff) and I was the only person west of the Mississippi that was involved. I had to educate them on the concerns and the differences of attitudes of some of us left coasters. Knowing some of the differences made us more of a united front for the issue. Just throwing this out................ ***************************************************************************************** > Evan wrote: > WE are not a group of independent regions, states, or divisions.
