Penny!....welcome to the club...what took you so long?..lol...I have always
said what folks feed their animals is their business and their right!...I
learned about raw 7 years ago on this very list....hands down, no question
about it...a correctly fed raw diet is what nature intended our dogs to eat and
it is the BEST diet for them....processed dog foods are at the root of many
many of ours dogs physical ailments....the benefits of this diet are almost
unbelievable...Penney, your dogs just got healthier!....Ed Hill

I am giving raw a try. Â Luckily for me (and the dogs) there is a Blue Â
Ridge meat distributor within 45 minutes (in Suffolk, VA). Â Plus, as Â
an added bonus there is a wholesale meat company right here in Â
Ahoskie. Â We picked up chicken backs yesterday and packaged them and Â
plopped them in the fridge and freezer. Â As far as the Blue Ridge Â
company goes, I'm starting out with the beef (breeder's choice), tripe Â
and knuckle bones; these were recommended by the distributor who's had Â
her show dogs on raw for 20 years. Â Before that, she told me that she Â
had a couple of her dogs bloat. Â I'm trying this for the same reason. Â
Having lost both Brando and Jeddie within a year to torsion and bloat, Â
I have to change SOMETHING. Â Although I STILL believe that bloat/
torsion are familial and polygenic, I also feel that we might be doing Â
our dogs a disservice by feeding them processed food. Â The dogs will Â
still get their Longevity and Garlic vitamins (from Springtime) and Â
their diatomaceous earth, plus their yogurt. Â I pray that this new Â
diet will help them live healthy, long lives.
I am NOT trying to start a war about raw vs kibble; I'm just telling Â
you what I feel will be the BEST for MY dogs.
