[ SHOWGSD-L ] RALEEF-PA Law...Good & Bad

I certainly agree with Peggy here and after some serious thinking...I agree
with the law.

There are some laws that we need to support. If all we do is rail against
them...(which virtually all of them deserve such action)...legislators will
see us only in a negative light. When they "do it right" we need to serve up
the appropriate accolades.

RALEEF has a "legislation" sub-committee chaired by Margery Golant. She and
Peggy Mickelson will be working with Regional Club contacts to inform them
of Regional legislation. Another thing we're working on at RALEEF is getting
a separate email address that will be easily accessible and then we can
assign the Regional RALEEF member to work with your situation.

We are also preparing for the Futurity season. We want to set up our table
or tent and work to educate, inform, and maybe collect a donation or 50. We
will have handouts and buttons that will educate and show support for this
very important effort.

There is not a day goes by that I don't sigh or cringe. 2005 and 06 is the
worst onslaught of legislation that affects us...(mostly in negative
fashion)...that I have ever experienced. So many laws in so many States to
deal with is such a daunting task. That said...RALEEF members are some of
the most committed people on Da Planet.

I hope you all will take the time to check us out. As I type RALEEF members
are working to consolidate hand outs that will give a powerful message to
all who "need" to know what's going on. We will not be able to stand up
against those who would take your dogs and your rights away without that
knowledge and support.

do you ever drive in Pennsylvania? then read this...

>I believe some folks hit that delete key when they should take time to
> read and understand what is happening with dog legislation -- that is,
> anti dog legislation--... and it is happening all over everywhere ...
>
> One law that HAS passed - and those of us on the East Coast need to keep
> in mind - in the state of PA, you must have your dog crated or contained
> (belted into a 'doggie seat' or similar) or behind a secure barrier
> containing the dog in the rear of the vehicle / cargo area of the
> vehicle. If your dog is riding loose with you (as many Cavaliers do!)
> and you are involved in a traffic accident - even if someone else hits
> you - you will be charged - because your dog was loose in your car! Do
> be careful to find out the rules - especially when you travel!
