I let them know if they would like to breed I need to see the dog to see if I
feel if it is of breeding qaulity. If yes, then they need to be willing to
show their dog to show its breeding quality as well as OFA their dogs hips and
elbows. Once OFA is done (and passed) they must be willing to have me on as a
co-owner to ensure the bitch is not bred until she has been proven breeding
quality at shows if they wish me to change the registration. Usually once
they hear everything involved they change their mind. And I have even had
people who have gone through all the steps, get a Major on their bitch and then
decided they would not want to breed after all once they realize hwow much is
involved, and then went to spay their girl.

I'm curious what you all tell people who have bought a puppy from you and a
year later say that they are so in love with their dog ( and so is everybody
else) that they want to know if they can breed it? I do explain things to
folks when they purchase the pup that it is a pet, on a limited registration,
and that not all dogs should be bred. But, ironically, after a night of
whelping four boys and a girl from BOF, Best in Olympics winner, champion
pointed Bill-Mars Ms Trouble (Trouble daughter) who was bred to Bill-Mars Tank
(Alvin son), I get an e-mail from a man who is inquiring what the process is to
breed his girl. I've been down this road before with folks but am so tired
right now I cannot think straight. Just curious how others handle this.
Besides, don't we need a new topic!
