I don't feed puppy food beyond 3-4 months and have been thrilled w/
Kirkland (Costco) Chicken & Rice for all life stages.
Feed him what he'll eat 3x a day and if you think he looks thin add in a
bit of cooked pasta or (real) oatmeal. GL

The food I had on hand happened to be Horizon Legacy Fish, which I read was
not large breed pup appropriate (calcium-phosphorus). It's also a high
protein/low carb (+low glycemic) food, average calories.
Rescue had some Royal Canin GSD 24, marked on bag as only ok for 15
months+. I'm less than comfortable with the food also . . . ingred list,
etc. Who knows what this dog was eating before coming to GSD rescue (via e
list at county shelter, not much care from owner) . . . just hoping any
nutrition damage isn't already done.
Neighbor has Blue Buffalo Adult w/Life Protection Bits, White Fish/Red Bag
formula. It's a pretty good formula (ingredient-wise) and low protein.
Anyone know if the calcium content and ratio is safe or if the formula is
safe for puppies??? We were thinking of swapping.
I just want something that will not *hurt* this growing puppy and figured
"da list" knew best . . . been been a while since I've had a puppy in the
home! Can anyone help? Please?
Also any idea about how much to feed calorie-wise (or cups) for this age??
Pretty thin looking puppy, despite his 73 lbs, but just on the cusp.

p.s. Super sale locally on Zignature Trout formula, appropriate
calcium-phos and seems like a pretty good food . . . was thinking of
picking some up when I run out of food.
