Dear Listers, My vet has told me that bitches ovulate when their progesterone levels are around 5. BUT, that progesterone levels can shoot up to 20 within a 12-24 hour period but it STILL takes eggs 48 hours to mature. I've always thought that eggs and progesterone levels went hand in hand. Any thoughts? What brought this about was one of our bitches was about 90% cornified on day 9, vet said wait on progesterone, day 10 we did a progesterone anyway and it was 20! Of course we bred right away but I just figured it was too late. He maintains she probably ovulated around day 8 and we needed to continue breeding as the eggs still need 48 hours irregardless of what the progesterone says. Hummmm...this doesn't sound right to me~ Thanks, Brenda Banister Crago www.midnightsunshepherds.com ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2004.
