It is that time again, when we prepare for the National. It is a time of
planning, anticipation and stress.
Last night I could not sleep. I kept thinking of the new airline rules
that
charge for the first bag.
I know I can carry on my lap-top, which I need for the Blog. I also know I
can have one carry-on, that will fit under my seat. But, I have to take
all
the medals for the Junior Handlers, and clothes for a week. Now,
granted,
I donâ??t have much to take, just an extra pair of jeans, and a bunch of
t-shirts and some clean socks.
I got to thinking about shipping my clothes. I decided I could put them in
a box, and have my office send them to the host hotel. Then I could put
some duct tape inside the box, with a pre-typed label to send them back
after
the show. I could send them out from Colorado on Saturday and by Monday
they would be back at the office.
Then, still stressing, I started to think about my medicines, (getting
older is no fun), and stuff like contact lens solution, shaving cream,
etc. I
realized I could put it all in the box, but I had to take some pills with
me, just in case something happened. I also decided I had to go to the
drug
store to buy small containers of all products to take with me, as they don
â??
t allow the larger sizes to go on the plane. I could put them all in
plastic bags, so they wouldn't ruin anything if there was a leak.
I was up until about 3:00 a.m. tossing and turning and finally realized
I
had it all worked out. I felt so good having thought it through, and so I
turned off the light, (for which Tedi was grateful) and fell asleep.
As normal, I woke at 5:00 a.m. opened my eyes, consider the night before,
and realized we were driving to Colorado.
This is how I prepare for the National. See you there.
