I just wonder why we can run the local trials by charging all exhibitors $45,
regardless of course. We do offer all courses, although have very low entries
on B, a course that requires a totally different set-up, a large field, and has
it's own set of headaches to the trial committee. It is sort of like charging
the Advanced agility people more becasue they require more equipment.
C course is based on the style of herding this breed was created for and is the
reason this breed has all of the fabulous traits it does. I know it is hard to
find facilities and training for this course, but why are we penalizing the
people who are actually carrying on the historical use of the dog? Instead of
encouraging c-course exhibitors to come to allow others a chance to experience
the historical base for the breed, we are actually discouraging it by charging
them more for entry fees. As you say, the facility does not charge per sheep,
so this is not the issue. The issue is actually based on other organization's
practices. Again, we manage to run trials for all three courses, fly in judges,
and charge $45 per run. Period.
While the surcharge is nothing comapred to the other costs of going to the
Nationl, it is a fairness issue.
