You really have to do your homework. If I bred to an American dog and it
just didn't work out does that mean all American dogs are bad? Of course
not. Look at the pedigree not the country in which the dog was born.

I remember some good friends who were breeders of GSDs here in California.
They decided to breed into the German lines. After a few years she told
me you should breed to a German male, then take your best bitch, and breed
her to a solid American German shepherd, then from that litter select your
top bitch and breed her to a top producing American dog, then from that
litter find a show quality dog to show.
They no longer are in shepherds.
