Werner,
Over the last year, Carol Moore, Futurity Chair, and the rest of the
Futurity Committee have worked diligently to try and improve the futurity
system
BASED UPON THE DESIRES AND INPUT OF THE MEMBERSHIP. Suggestion boxes were
put out at the 2010 regional Futurities and, thankfully, people took
advantage of the opportunity to express their opinion(s). Kathy Potter put
together a comprehensive study of what suggestions were made and Carol and the
committee read the study carefully and made recommendations based upon the
same.
Entries are down; Futurities have not been immune to this problem. The
plaques are expensive and, when you have many classes without even four
participants, the cost of the plaques becomes prohibitive. THIS is why the
Futurity Chair recommended to the Board of Directors that the plaques for
placings be eliminated. This does NOT mean that, if entries were to increase
substantially, the issue would never be reconsidered; it is simply what is be
st and most financially prudent for now.
The decision to eliminate the plaques for placings in Futurities/Maturities
in NO way inferred that the GSDCA is "that broke."
