[ SHOWGSD-L ] New Topic Positive Legislation

Now that we are not in the heat of so many battles. We have spent so
much time telling the world what legislation not to pass, can we
possibly come up with some solid recommendations about what should be passed.
Here in Texas, now is the time to approach legislators with
"positive" recommendations. We found in the last session that our
legislators do listen. As a dog community, we need to start being
"pro-active" instead of just saying "no" to everything.
I, personally believe that if you have 25 or more intact breeding
adult bitches, you are a puppy mill. How can we approach limits
without penalizing the conscientious breeder?
With the seizures and shutdowns we have seen lately, how can we
creatively come up with ways to regulate places with 500 plus dogs?
Idea, if we want to stop "puppy mills" stop making it lucrative for
the pet stores. They should, in some way be responsible for the
places they buy dogs from.
We need really serious programs that educate the public about buying
dogs. We need to teach them how to stop being suckers.
Let's pose more questions and suggestions that make sense.
