I dunno' about their dogs functioning "just fine"...I can think of more
than a few people who never got beyond a CD let alone a CDX w/ a GSD because
their dog couldn't handle jumping. Interesting, they weren't "show lines"
from "show breeders". Not that all "show lines" are trouble free...we know
they aren't.
Talk to die hard performance people and you'll notice orthopedic
vets/rehab, chiropractors, acupuncturists, pool owners, T-touch providers etc.
etc.
etc. are doing one HECK of a business. And now there is some sort of
electrical impulse gizmo.
Then flip through any doggy catalog; the array of joint supplements is
mind boggling. Seriously???? I don't know what most of it does and/or if it
has any effect.
If I had to put humpty-dumpty back together again after every agility or
sheep herding weekend, or if I needed to spend all kinds of $$$$ on "joint
supplements" and "performance boosters" I think I might connect the dots
that humpty-dumpty wasn't built for the task I was hoping he'd do ...
Then again, I started in horses and horse people seem to be born knowin' if
it ain't built right, it'll break down.
But I hear you about getting out and doing more "stuff". Besides letting
J. Q. Public see and admire a good one, it's good for the soul.... the
stuff of goose bumps <G>.

circles. And why wouldn't they think that? I think more of us need to
demonstrate the relationship between form and function by training our
champions
in performance events. It sure makes for a happier dog!

Me too. I also don't understand splitting the 12-18 class into 2
classes.
If the goal of a "working class" is to get more "performance" people into
the breed ring, I think we just have to hammer that form equals function
equals form equals function equals....route. And maybe some will even
recognize when a dog is built right they say sounder longer to do the job
they
were intended to do. (Maybe?????)
I get a lot of calls for puppies from performance people and there are
quite a few featured on the photo gallery of my web page, but I can't
begin to
tell you the times when I've gone into pedigrees, bone, pigment, breed
type, etc. on a litter and I hear "I don't care, I want to do agility,
herding....". Well I damn well care!!!! WHAT an insult!!!
Anybody who knows me knows that I am equally at home in both rings, BUT I
also want to have, structurally, a VERY GOOD DOG in either ring (and
pretty..Ok I'll admit it, they need to be pretty lol). Heck, I want a
gorgeous
dog walking with me in the park or laying in front of the fireplace.
