[ SHOWGSD-L ] NATIONAL ELECTION TIME

Another good post Evan. I'm glad you still feel strongly about the
issue of the number of Selects should remain in the hands of the judge
chosen by the membership. After all, that membership that voted for
that judge is bringing their dogs to be considered for the GV/GVX title
and want to know that they have just a good a change to get that as
someone else and not have to worry about the cut off limitation.
Because we have been presented with a slate of Officer nominees and
other people are also bringing to the slate some of their choices, now
is the time for the membership to really consider who they think would
be beneifical as the future leaders of our club. What I would like to
see is when these people are nominated, I don't just want to see their
names. I want to know a little something about the person I am asked to
be considered to place my vote for. Sure, I've heard of most of these
people, and know some of them personally, but I want to know a little
background about them. Just because I've heard of someone and know
they've been in the breed for a long time doesn't mean I know anything
enough about them to vote for them. IMO, when someone is nominated to
hold an important title in the club, the membership should know a little
about who they are voting for. There are many new members who don't
know any of these people. How are they to make an intelligent choice
about who they want to run their club? I wouldn't pick the next
President of the United States to run my country who I didn't know
something about what they're bringing to the plate, so why should I vote
on future officers of my club any differently? Just don't give me the
peoples names.......give me their credentials please! I don't want to
do the "popular" thing. I want to make an educated decision. Barbara
