I do not agree that we should be expected to "move on" just because
they are sincere in their belief that we should
have the GSDCA, Inc. National site in St. Louis for the next few
years. Of course the current Board works hard.
EVERY Board works hard. I know of no Board that was not hard working
and dedicated. BUT...
Being on the Board is not about "personal satisfaction"......but
should be about a concern for the entire membership
and the Events that feature and support our Breed. The health and
strength of the Parent Club actually COMES
from the membership. Many are happy with Purina.........but many of
us are not.
A couple of Board members and the National Chair stated on the List
that we should start looking into other sites
rather than just complain if we want to move from St. Louis ....( at
least "occasionally"..)
I personally know of NO site in California ( where I live ) that will
work because of huge California costs. I do not
expect to have a National in my own back yard anyway... but I do
expect "reasonable" for those of us in the West
and reasonable for those in the East.
Since I know of no reasonable site in Calif. to bring to the Board....
I asked Ruth Scheubler to look into Albany,
Oregon again and she is doing exactly that. She has asked Gail for
details in what she needs to look into.
Then I asked Connie Malo to look into the Utah site again and she is
working on that. The Utah site has had
some improvements since we were there before....and they actually have
inquired about our possible return to
use their facilities.
With such awesome co-operative members as Ruth and Connie.. I went
ahead and asked Patty Korsch if she would
mind looking into the availability of Colorado site again. Patty
actually had the sod pretty much paid for in Colorado
before.... by getting the Hotels to kick in and help pay the costs!!
All three of these Ladies are willing and hard
workers and looking into the possibility of these sites that were
acceptable before. Availability on exact dates
may be a problem for Colorado....but the National should be earlier
for this site anyway. It is worth it.
We may all fail in our efforts....as so much depends on the Board.
But no one wants to "move on" and just give
up on the possibility of other sites besides Purina. Hopefully
someone will look into the Arizona site again...or
even Kansas to be a tad more Central. It does seem pretty obvious
that we need three semi permanent sites.
Purina could be one.... ..just not the ONLY ONE!! <G>

The board is going to change next year. Every year we have changes.
The current board works hard, and is dedicated to the club. That is
always true, as there is no advantage to being on the board, other
than personal satisfaction of doing what they think is right.
I know recently Helen has a personal situation with the board, but it
was resolved. I represented Helen,
(and, no, I will not be showing under her this year), and things were
said that might have been better not said. Sam Israel wrote to the
entire board to say I was a terrible attorney and a liar. He probably
did not know I had represented six of the current board members. That
is Sam's opinion, (he hasn't asked me to represent him), and I respect
his right to be wrong.
Despite the problems and decisions, never denigrate the board members.
What they do provide is the best they can do. Things said, or things
done are done with sincere belief, and we should move on, but
always make our opinions heard.
