A great Thanks to John & Molly & AL & Shirley and Ken & Judy
& J.D. & Sharon
and all the other members of the Beaumont club, who I know gave over a year
of their lives planning and working to make sure that all of us and our dogs
had the best facitities possible and the best of times. Bouquets of thanks
to Nancy & Lea and all their helpers. To all and anyone who worked on
this
National, I thank you heartfeltlly. (Is there such a word, I hope so). I wish
for all of you a years rest and many wins and a great time spectating in OHIO.

At long last the national is behind us, and by us, I mean the members of
the
GSDC of Beaumont. What a roller coaster ride this has been. John and I
were
talking about this last night, along with a couple of calls with Shirley
Melvin. Our unified consensus.....this was great once. Would we as a club
be
the "helper" club to the national show committee???? Maybe not.
Could be
a
sign we are getting a little older, but folks, this is one pile of work. I
thought being a futurity chair was hectic........THAT was a piece of cake!
But we did want to share a few things with the fancy and those clubs that
have and will help the national committee.
One of the best ups were the personal thanks we got from many people both
at
the national and on the list. We thank you back for lifting our spirits
and
making the work seem lighter.
The downside on that is hearing the pile of grumblings from the hotels to
the grass and so on. So many say it has nothing to do with OUR club, but
anytime anyone has negative comments, you do take it personal. We will
get over
it, pretty much already have.
The downs....we were saddened for Ben and Joan losing their boy, for
Jeff's
mom losing her girl, and for Betty and Karl Radzevich for losing their old
boy. Our hearts reach out to you all but then we are all family.
We hope Jack recovers from his nasty fall, and although I did not get the
name, the man that came to me with injured muscles in his arm needing help
I
hope our local hospital was able to help him too. Things just happen...no
fault of anyone.
We want to thank Carol and Bob Moore for offering the rooms at the Elegante
for a great 80th birthday party for John, and all the well wishers who came
to shake his hand. You have no idea how much it meant to him to be
surrounded
by his friends.
We were proud to be able to get a weird stranger replacement for Jim York
from the ranks of our club that he was greatly impressed with. Way to go
Paul
Parrish - mind you, Kim already knew he would be good at that! I was proud
to
see so many of our club members there helping. Again, was thrilled the
local members stepped up to the plate to provide almost all the stewards
for the
obedience trials. Thanks guys.
The crowning glory for us was going to the victory dinner and seeing those
wonderful Texas center pieces that Mary Tripp made and donated to the club.
In the middle of the tables were oil wells in metal with a GSD half way up
and it was spewing "black gold". Along with that as party favors
were hand
fans that will steal a Texans heart.....on them was a beautiful GSD in a
field
of Blue Bonnets, the state flower. Mary is a rare talent and gives so much
of herself every year. Thanks Mary for your dedication to the PC and to
all
the breed clubs in Texas.
It was a long battle to have it here, and we are all glad we did.....a
great
experience for sure. We hoped beyond the problems you all had a good time
and a big thanks for coming!
