[ SHOWGSD-L ] Longcoats

Hi all,
I have read with much interest the discussion on long coats having a
separate class, I think Evan has it completely right, come on people bring out
your long coats, I donâ??t mean all the trimmed ones being shown now, why be
ashamed, after all the coat is just a fault and not even a serious fault, so
why do so many breeders hide the long coats and yet these same breeders will
show a dog that canâ??t walk or trot with out wobbling all over in the rear,
they show these and win, yet these have a very serious fault ................
so why hide just a fault and yet show with pride a dog with a very serious
fault ..................... we all know what the answer is ............. yes
you guessed it because winning with a untrimmed long coat is pretty much
impossible but winning with the wobbly rear is much easier as long as you have
that side gait. Who is to blame .............. it has to start with the judges
...... if they donâ??t win, than the breeders will not spend the money showing
them ......... but than if the judges donâ??t put them up, than they get less
judging assignments, and around we go.
Same with the white, yes they have a DQ fault, why? No one has come up with a
good reason why they have a DQ fault, a white coat should be allowed, afterall
they are a GSD and no one has proven that whites produce more health problems
than colored.
I am not a big breeder, I probably will never compete against most of you in
the ring but it is sad to walk a puppy around at a show and have people comment
to you, wow a GSD that walks on itsâ?? feet ......... that is sad.
