A farmer was plowing his field with a mule. The mule was making  cross 
lanes, crooked lines, and just wouldn't plow straight.
 
The neighbor came by and said:  "Would you like me to show  you how to make 
your mule plow a straight line?"
 
The farmer said; "Sure, it would be a great  help."
 
The neighbor picked up a lead pipe and smacked the mule dead  center on his 
head. All four legs went out and the mule was laying unconcious in  the 
middle of the field.
 
The farmer explained, "What are you doing?  My mule is out  cold."
 
The neighbor replied, "First you have to get his  attention."
 
I use that story often when doing a divorce where one of the parties is not 
 paying attention.
