Great accounting Laura and a good question.
I do thing one positive note on this to follow up is the renewed emphasis
the GSDCA is looking at Public Relations. Think this is the starting
point. I know Rita Sandell and her committee are coming up with ways to get a
positive presentation of our breed to the general public including more Meet
the Breeds at AB shows.
But what you did this weekend is just the best way in the world to do it.
Take the time, answer questions and introduce people to others so newer
people don't feel segregated at shows.
The AKC has a pamphlet introducing starters to the world of showing dogs,
and it might be something every club has on hand to also pass out.
Explains the dynamics of the show.
I have some and give to junior handlers that I work with.
Why not write a little column to the local newspaper about your day?
Since you also mentioned that people don't even know AB shows exist, what about
taking info on a local show coming up and put it in the "coming events" in
your local paper using your own clubs name as a resource contact? Lets
everyone know you exist.......
It is up to all of us to keep our beloved breed in a good light.....but
good going lady!
