um… you’re asking for TWO breeds to happen then. One group wants to be white
shepherds, then there’s the people with the imported “berger blanc suisse”, and
then, of course, there’s the group who want the whites to be “reincorporated”
into the GSD show ring as the same breed the whites have been registered as
since the beginning of time, and yet today.
ONLY a handful of the berger blanc suisse are NOT AKC registered as GSDs- back
in 2007 the precedent was set for the BBS to be AKC registered as GSDs, and the
majority of them are just that, AKC GSDs. Not to start a fight, but, how can
they be a “different breed” when they are AKC GSDs?
And, never mind one still can’t get a new breed based on a conformation DQ in
an existing breed..
Plus, nobody would be happy! The whites folk are fighting amongst themselves
over what to call themselves, and even the “separatists” have broken away into
2 different factions- the North American dogs (White Shepherds) and the
imported dogs (Swiss White Shepherds).
Sounds like a mess for the GSDCA to not deal with until they figure out how to
get on the same page about their “breed”, when they’re GSDs by AKC already
anyhow for the most part (except a small handful of more recently imported
dogs) There are a whole 4 BBS listed on the OFA website. Not exactly a breed
population in America- especially since 3 are parent/offspring…

Well maybe now with our new GSDCA President Carmen that is also
our AKC Delegate just maybe the people that want a separate
breed for White Shepherd "Berger Blanc Suisse" can happen
for those that want it. The White Shepherd "Berger Blanc Suisse"
breeders have worked very hard importing and breeding the
White Shepherd "Berger Blanc Suisse" to have the best of what
their conformation is. Why should they not be included with the AKC
now to maintain their White Shepherd "Berger Blanc Suisse" Breed Standard.
