How about friend and protector of young.
When my daughter was quite young and Gretchen(our senior GSD) was also a
young and sassy thing we had an incident that could have turned out quite
differently if it had not been for Gretchen that wonderful protector of
childred. We were outside and I was quite some distance from Carenza when
across the yard came barking and growling a big yellow lab and he was
running right towards Carenza with ill intentions. I screamed for her but I
could not get there in time. Gretchen did though. Just as that dog pounced
on her and knocked her over almost getting his teeth on her Gretchen grabbed
him by the throat and pinned him to the ground. When he managed to get to
his feet he ran for his life with Gretchen in tow to the edge of the yard.
Needless to say Gretchen was and always has been Carenza's hero. I hate to
think what my beautiful daughter's face would have looked like if that dog
had gotten ahold of her. So you see that is a german shepherds
job...protector of the young and forever a true friend.
