[ SHOWGSD-L ] Issues for the GSDCA Board Meeting

I wanted to post to the list about the upcoming GSDCA Board meeting this  
weekend.  As a PC member, I would like to encourage our President and Board  to 
address the issue of Animal Rights Groups and their impending impact on all  
aspects of our sport as we know it today.  I also wanted to give an update  on 
what occurred at the beginning of April when Linda Butler of our list so  
kindly volunteered to copy and distribute an informational flyer (see below) to 
 
the Pet Industry Trade Show in Atlantic City (a LARGE trade show with 1800  
booths).  On her return, Linda emailed me that most people did not realize  
PETA 
and HSUS are the "the enemy" - characteristic of the general public's  
misconception.  The AR Group's benevolent names are very deceptive contrary  to 
their 
prime purpose; which is to eliminate human use of animals in any  way.  
The flyer (which was geared toward this Trade Show) was short  and to the 
point, it read:

"Are YOU destined for EXTINCTION?  Your  business, your livelihood, the good 
old American quest for free  enterprise?  If you are involved with the pet 
industry, in fact involved  with anything to do with animals of any kind, YOU 
ARE 
THE TARGET!!!  There  are groups of radical Animal Rights Activists that want 
to do away with all of  the above.  Let these Animal Rights Groups continue 
and soon there will be  no need for this Trade Show.  These groups are not 
innocuous or benign and  they have very deceptive names - HSUS (Humane Society 
of 
United States) PETA  (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) FFA (Fund 
for Animals) - just to  identify a few* and know that the top 3 operate on 7 
figure budgets* yep* that  means Millions of dollars in donations.  PLEASE 
educate yourself, your  clients, and your customer base of this threat by 
checking 
out their agendas,  and their targets on http://naiaonline.org/ (National 
Animal Interest Alliance). 
Education is the key, we all need to focus on this threat  NOW!"

Thanks and kudos to Linda for volunteering to get this important  message out 
to a very significant audience.  

For those members  unable to attend, this might be an opportune time to email 
our  Board with issues that you would like addressed at this upcoming  
meeting.  I'm sure inputs would be appreciated.
