What worked for me was a soup ladle duct taped to a wooden dowel.
You can use a yardstick instead of a wooden dowel, if you have one.
Just something to make it so you don't have to bend down too close to
the dog. And you might want to buy a ladle of a different color just
for this purpose. LOL.
Other suggestions from another list I am on:
I have a very long spatula. I tape a disposable plastic cup to it,
and slide it under the dog as she squats. The spatula gives me more
control over the cup. Then wearing my disposable gloves, I pour the
urine into the sterile container, remove the tape, pitch the plastic
cup.
Another wrote: When we needed to catch urine for an early Cushing's
test the vet gave us a wide funnel type of thing and we followed her
around with it. As soon as she squatted we put the funnel under her
and collected into a sterile jar, capped it and we were done.....
I suppose you could make something similar with something like those
disposable cutting boards that are made of heavy stiff
plastic.....just tape it into a funnel shape and you're good to go.
