We don't breed females past 5 years old. That was Lee Duncan's policy and we adhere to that. The theory is that old females have old eggs and potentially more problems in the pups. Somewhat like an older woman having a baby. However, I will say there is a golden Retriever breeder here in Crockett who had a female that was 11 and she did a surgical semen breeding - personally I was mortified she would put such an old female through that.
