in the fields where the dogs are during the day we have a old bathtub in
each field filled with water, our dogs love it. All they need is a diving
board.LOL .They have lots of shade trees and stay out all day. they play in
the AM and PM and sleep the rest of the time in the shade.What a life!
We are used to hot weather here in the Kamloops area but it is a dry heat
and much easier to deal with.

It is 80 degrees at 9:08 a.m. in New York. It feels like 85 with a
humidity of 67 so far. It's supposed to go up to 98 degrees with a heat
index of 105! Yikes......worse than yesterday! So how do you help make
your dogs a little more comfortable in this extreme heat? My Amber is a
complete house dog so she's in the air conditioner all day. (It's good
to be the queen)! Her daughters.....the twins (3 1/2 months) are out in
the morning. They have a kiddie pool, that they think is for drinking
only, so I pick them up and in they go for their morning dip. I just
read somewhere yesterday that it's only adviseable to wet their tummies
and feet and not their whole body as the water there will evaporate
quickly and not get down to their skin quick enough and be like a sauna
on their coat. I also give them ice cubes in their water. They love
making a mess out of this. I also freeze bottles of water and the big
gallon milk jugs and give it to them. I find that they'll lay next to
them to keep cool. I will bring them in right before noon and put them
in their crates with some large dog biscuits to keep them entertained.
Today, however, they'll each get a marrow bone which should keep them
busy for awhile. Any other ideas? Best wishes, Barbara
