I started to post on this, and then decided, maybe I do not know what I am
talking about. But in the all breeds, when a dog has little competition, but
the bitch class is heavy, some judges will award the BOW to the dog/bitch so
that they get more points. Whether this is a good thing or not is not the
point, it is that the dog who wins, wins over all the dogs defeated, but just
the ones of their own sex.
Am I correct, or crazy? Shut up Evan! Don’t answer that.

If the winner’s dog goes breed all animals that are shown, excluding dogs
excused, disqualified, etc, count towards his total dogs defeated including all
specials regardless of sex. Non regular class dogs are not counted such as
veterans.

I just finished judging the San Gabriel Valley show this weekend. It was a real
experience for me to be able to judge Midas. I gave him Best of Breed, as did
Bud Drew and Mary Ann Imhoff. My big problem was I wanted to just stop the show
and watch him.
I also did something I never thought I would do. I gave the puppy dog a four
point major, and the bitch best of winners,so she too got four points. I
believed I would never put up a puppy, but did so in both sexes.
I will let the owners brag, but it was a beautiful day, and the quality was
amazing.
