I placed a pet puppy whose owner has been told by her vet to use Viokase after testing in the low normal trypsin range. (5.7) He is 70# at 7 months of age, does not have a voracious appetite, and has soft stools only occasionally. The normal range is 5.0 to 35...does anyone know is this really normal for GSDs? Does anyone know if supplementing with Viokase/Pancreazyme will actually suppress pancreatic production? My thought is to increase the amount of Prozyme which he is getting already and wait on any other supplementation until, and if, he shows signs of nutritional deficiency. Any thoughts? Has anyone supplemented with Viokase or Pancreazyme and had a dog continue to get worse? Thanks for any info you may have.
