I realize not all of us on the list have German dogs, I have both German and American-I also know we have had conversations over the years about "hot" food giving our dogs too much energy. I have a 2 year old bitch that has way too much energy lately. She is normally active, but I am wondering if the recent food changes (due to rice, wheat, etc,) that I have done is causing her to be hyper. Her parents were imported from Germany, bred by Karl Fuller-very high herding instinct. THAT, I can handle. It's the jumpy, licky(is licky a word?) wiggly stuff that's driving me crazy. She is taking the temperament test (ATTS) next weekend, and although I know she has lightning quick reflexes, it may look as if she's spooked, and I'd rather not fail it. Any suggestions as to how I can calm her down? She is very sound, loves everyone, is just being a barking, jumpy fool right now! Has anyone's dogs had cabin fever? Will running her get rid of some of that? Thanks so much to anyone who can help. ALSO: what foods are good for hyper dogs?
