The dog could be picking up on your emotions. If you are hyper, she will be too. She is a young dog. Make her tired!! Play with her. If she was not active, I would wonder if she was sick. I have a 14 month old, Swedish/German Male, and he loves to play. I am feeding him the Eagle pack Holistic Chicken Kibble, and adding Doc Kreuger Supplement for Working Dogs. It works for him, but every dog is different. I have always owned Females, and this is my first Male. Whether they be German or American makes no difference drive wise. ( I have owned both). The Females HAVE more drive, and learn more quickly. Males are more laid back, sweeter, and not BITCHY, and think with their CROWN JEWELS! Males have the smarts, and once they know it, they do not forget! JMO! Regards! High energy dog! Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2007 18:33:22 -0400 >I realize not all of us on the list have German dogs, I have both German andAmerican-I also know we have had conversations over the years about "hot" food giving our dogs too much energy. I have a 2 year old bitch that has way too much energy lately. She is normally active, but I am wondering if the recent food changes (due to rice, wheat, etc,) that I have done is causing herto be hyper. Her parents were imported from Germany, bred by Karl Fuller-very high herding instinct. THAT, I can handle. It's the jumpy, licky(is licky a word?) wiggly stuff that's driving me crazy. She is taking the temperament test (ATTS) next weekend, and although I know she has lightning quick reflexes, it may look as if she's spooked, and I'd rather notfail it. Any suggestions as to how I can calm her down? She is very sound, loves everyone, is just being a barking, jumpy fool right now! Has anyone's dogs had cabin fever? Will running her get rid of some of that? Thanks so much to anyone who >can help.
