Handlers also have bills to pay to get to the shows to show our dogs and their
expenses have also gone up. They cannot afford to show dogs at the old expense
rate.
I have to have a handler to show in the breed ring but also trial my dog
myself.
I do what I can afford and don't do it if I cannot afford it on my pension.

You are right about new people unable to comprehend the fees and expenses
involved for those 2 minutes. Unfortunately at the rate our sport is going,
the handlers will eventually price themselves out of a job except for those
exhibitors of wealth who can afford them. And what fun will that be? My
suggestion to the really smart handlers, reduce your fees back to what they
were 10 years ago and ADVERTISE your prices. Handlers are handlers, sure
some BIG names can command the top dollar, but handlers that are reasonable,
will have their dance cards full.
Obviously as Mr. Lynch says below FACE is also part of the package. Well
I say if judges need to rely on what's running behind the dog, then they
don't deserve to judge, and I don't pay for face.
