As a newbie, it's not the handling cost, running or politics that keeps me from
showing my dog. It's that I refuse to send my dog away, and I don't have time
to
go to shows across the country that have majors. The time I spend at work and
my
other activities prohibit me from attending major shows and even the Nationals.
I just can't take off work to travel to the shows. i will always have showable
dogs, but I'm mainly switching to herding.

Well I can attest to the fact that in my area most cardis are handled by their
owners. I have 12 points on Truman . Just put a major on him last weekend
myself
after a year of sitting out to mature. Of course some people use handlers. But
I think most owners handle themselves.
It is a lot more fun this way and much cheaper. I do see a lot of owner
handlers in the shepherd ring at the all breeds around here
I think people want to Have fun with their dogs and not just hand them off to
some one else
