Lubbock, TX, Action Alert!
Yet another Texas city faces anti-pet legislation! Responsible Pet Owners
Alliance requested a copy of the draft to be presented to the Lubbock
Animal
Shelter Advisory Board Tuesday and was told it is not available. However
it
will be presented at the meeting Tuesday and we should have a copy then.
From newspaper articles mandatory pet spay/neuter with permits, high fees
and fines, "monitoring" breeding, and mandatory microchips have all been
mentioned. In other words, everything that has proven to be a failure
elsewhere in Texas for the past 5 years. Pet lovers in Lubbock should
attend this meeting to support our speakers on the agenda.

NOTICE is hereby given that
the Animal Shelter Advisory Board
will meet at 11:45 A.M. on August 10, 2010
Animal Services Training Room
102 Municipal Drive, Lubbock, Texas
The items to be considered appear on the agenda below:
1. CALL TO ORDER- Quincy White ,Chair
2. WELCOME TO VISITORS-Quincy White, Chair
3. CITIZEN COMMENTS- Any citizen wishing to appear before any regular
meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Board shall advise the Animal
Service's office of that fact no later than 72 hours before the meeting at
which the citizen wishes to appear. Any citizen wishing to appear shall
inform the
Animal Service's office, in writing, the subject of the appearance. Each
citizen appearing before the Board is allowed a 5 minute presentation.
Randy Bullard, DVM has requested to appear before the Board regarding the
Spay/Neuter Assistance Program
Bill and Sallie Morris, Morris Safe House have requested to appear before
the Board to present an update on the Pilot Program.
Sherell Guichard-Thomas, SPOTC has requested to appear before the Board to
speak about Pet Overpopulation.
Anne Humphries, Med. CPDT-KA, HPKC, Basenji Rescue has requested to appear
before the Board to speak about "What really works" in controlling pet
overpopulation.
Joann Neal, SPOTC has requested to appear before the Board to speak about
recommendations to decrease the dog population.
Tim Sampson, SPOTC./HOPKC has requested to appear before the Board to
speak
about the importance of Hobby Breeders.
4. CONSIDER JULY 13, 2010 MEETING MINUTES-Board Members
5. DISCUSSISON REGARDING DRAFT OF PROPOSED CHANGES TO CURRENT ANIMAL
ORDINANCES TO BE PRESENTED AT THE COUNCIL WORK SESSION.
