It would be great to show a profit. I had hoped with the "free" facilities we
would show a substantial profit. But, anything is good.

I have always had great faith in Frank as our president. He has taken on a
great burden and handled it well. We should support him and all the board, it
is not a pleasant or easy task.

It was mentioned Evan that this national showed a profit to the club of over
$25,000. Unfortunately the phone lines to the meeting were not working when
the financials were reported.

This is a bit harsh. Always at the January meeting the treasurer and
our auditors say they have not closed the books, so can't give the board a
report. This isn't the board's fault. If there is blame it would be either our
auditors, or our treasurer, but it has been this way for so many years, no one
has forced a change. I agree, by the end of the year, we should have a
preliminary report. Then at the next meeting they usually say they have to make
adjustments.

I don't think anyone is stealing, but I am surprised the board continues
to put up with the reporting. I know when Nadine was treasurer, the books were
always current. But, we get what we vote for, and unless someone forces the
issue, it will stay the same.

Eventually we will know what we did with the National for finances.
Pending that, we should trust our board. If not, vote someone else in.

 Hi,

Something that has surprises me is that there is no Profit & Lost Statement
of the Shows ever given to the membership. I am the Show Coordinator for 2 days
of shows for my AB Club.

Our shows are at the end of August, first week of September and every year I
present the membership with an initial P&L at the October meeting and the final
in December. It also has a line by line comparison to the shows from the year
before.

This helps us to determine if we need to make cuts anywhere for the next year,
or if we stay on cause and this is a decision of all the members as it affects
the Clubs survival.

My Labrador Club does the same thing. How can you put on shows year after year
and not know how or if it is affect the financial stability of the Club and
all members have the right to know this as it is their Club.

By the way, we make a profit each year and where smart enough to start cutting
back when we saw entry numbers going down. Gave up part of the grounds we did
not need with lower entries, save money on that and tenting.

As a 28 year member, I for one would very much like to know what are National
is costing us and the financial stability of the Club.
