It was one thing to be running on dirt for several days and breathing in the
dirt is another issue, but to get dust and dirt in the mouth is another issue.
The obedience dogs that were in the higher levels were doing just that. After
creating dust while taking a high jump and then inhaling or getting mouthfuls
when picking up their dumbbell or while running out to pick up gloves in the
directed retrieve. Many were actually shaking the gloves and the dirt and dust
was flying! I give my dog a lot of credit for doing what I requested of her
under conditions that we have never shown in. Our rings are either indoors on
mats or outdoors on grass, at least in New England they are.

exhibitors and the dogs sake, the board not approve dirt floor sites
