The dust was bad. I was blowing dirt from my nose everyday in the bathroom. I
would not be surprised to start hearing about sinus infections soon, especially
from handlers. I already heard from one. Running on the dirt wasn't as much
of an issue. I think I was and am equally sore as if it were on sod <vbg>
The site had a lot of very good things about it - The stalls were excellent!
The parking was excellent! The catering each day and at the hospitality and
victory dinner was beyond excellent!
However, at the end of the day, we really need to take care of the dogs and
handlers as best we can and I am not sure I would prefer to inhale dust for a
full week again if given the choice.

I am wondering how other exhibitors and especially handlers felt about showing
n dirt and the resulting dust. Two handlers I spoke with are still coughing
rom the amount of dust that was generated by the dogs and handlers running on a
irt surface. I was told that when the dust was kicked up from both dogs and
andlers it was like getting little bee stings all over your face and then
reathing the dust in. Does not sound too pleasant to me.

his is a once a year show highlighting some of the best in our breed and I
ould like to see the conditioners as perfect as possible. Granted there is no
ontrol over the weather other than picking locations in mild climates, but we
o have control over the surface the dogs and handlers have to run on. Yes, I
now it is a lot cheaper if sod is not provided, however as a club we are not in
he hole with our over all budget and I think providing the optimum surface for
his once a year show of shows is something we should do.
Just my opinion, but now that people are returning home I would like know how
thers feel.
On a positive note - kudos to the powers that be for providing the streaming
ideo. It was wonderful to be able to watch the dogs when you could not be
here. Thanks to Lanalee, Evan and Molly for all the time they spent providing
s with highlights and information. A big thank you to all involved in getting
his accomplished.
