My old Ch. Reno started alerting me (type 2) when my sugar would drop
during the night. It is VERY hard to sleep with 80 lbs in your face telling
you to get up!! LOL I asked my Dr. how he knew my sugar was low (usually
60 or lower when he would wake me) and he said he felt the dog being so
close to me just sensed it. I think maybe your body odor changes when your
sugar drops and they pick up on that. Anyway, he always gets me up and I
get a little pepsi or coke and get it back up. Mary, you are right. They
are soooo amazing. Also, Reno's daughter, Belle, has started doing the
same thing. Guess she thinks her pop needs a break at almost 13.

type 1 diabetes had her service dog with her. This dog is one she and her
husband bred. While listening to the program I was noticing her dog
getting his
front in her lap. Since mine does this all the time didn't think much
about it.
While he was still in her lap she brought out her testing equipment.
Finally
hit me he was alerting to her drop in blood sugar. What a fantastic thing
to
see the beautiful German Shepherd Dog doing his work. At the beginning
she told
me he started this all on his own since they have worked with a trainer.
