Ileana- When I started judging in the `70s, it was not uncommon to have
the Review publish your critique. They usually wanted the four placings
from the winners class which in those days was the Open class. The
critiques were descriptive assessments of the dogs judged with the
reasons for the placements. Much like Jack`s critiques. This
eventually caused some people to become resentful and occasionally hurt
by your description of their dog. My first assignment after my
provisionals was Topline. At that time it required two judges because
of the large number of entries. My winners bitch came from the Open
class and they expected me to critique all of the placings from that
class. I do not remember if we also critiqued the other class winners
but people wanted your TRUE assessment of the dogs you judged and how
you viewed them. After all that is said, we can`t live in the past and I
am not sure if this type of critique would go over very well. Why? you
ask? NO INTERNET IN THE SEVENTIES ! D.D.
