One has to assume that if a judge puts up a coat the other dogs are sufferening from some major faults.....problem is, the spectators won't know that.....it would definitely take some guts. Cindy Long coat of correct type is only a minor fault. Why would the normal coated dogs have to be so very faulty to be beat by one? We in the fancy see dogs with minor faults AND Serious faults win all the time. What about all those soft ears, bad backs & missing teeth (yes I said teeth as in more then one) that get put up? Heck we've had dogs with missing teeth (other the premolars) win at a national level. Personally I'd rather see a good coated GSD win then one with teeth missing. It's all about evaluation of breeding stock & there are worse things winning then long coats.
