The problem with the comparison between bloat and colic is that with 
horses colic is a catch all for "we have no idea but it appears to be 
some sort of stomach, intestinal distresses."  My Morgan died young at 
18 of colic, he was gone in 4 hours, but you've heard of the marathon 
session of colic where it goes on forever and the horse pulls through.  
Horses don't vomit so bad things that they might eat must come out the 
other end, which can lead to colic.  Horses are also grazing animals 
they were never meant to eat large meals two times a day, yet pastured 
horses colic, is it the same thing?  I don't think people clearly know. 
  It's not economically feasible to do necrocropies (sp?) on horses to 
know for sure. .....  I don't believe it's as cut and dry in horses so 
it's difficult, I think, to say it's the same thing or even comparable.
