I am okay with them being a separate breed -- as long as white in this breed
becomes unregisterable. Ie, there is NO option for White. Not sure how
they're going to manage it, but if they want a separate breed, then it's
separate and it is NOT an option for color in this breed.

Remember, to get a new breed approved you must prove them to be genetically
different than any other breed.....so, does this tell you what happened?
It simply stopped the white group from their own internal factions and
will let AKC take the ball on this if they wish too.
Frankly, I think it was a wise decision instead of keeping this issue on
the agenda as it has been for at least 6 years now, or more.

They have proven genetically you can tell the difference between a dog
that just happens to be white and a dilute. From what I've read most are
breeding the white dogs and not the dilutes. We all know with a dilute you
can
bring up other recessive problems and from what I've read, going back
decades now, that was the big objection for disallowing whites. That
objection is gone now, at least with the responsible breeders. We all
have
backyard breeders in any breed, I'm talking about the folks who have the
best
interest of the dogs at heart.
