Actually, all other things equal, I have to say that I love the bi-colors! I have owned, bred and finished quite a few. One thing that over the years that I learned, was how to recognize them at birth. Although most pups are very dark at birth, the slight tan on the legs is very sharply defined (the black & tans will have a tan that is bleeding into the black on the legs). Ofcourse, they will also have a solid black head & as someone mentioned, the back of the hocks will be black. I have never had one with any tan whatsoever on the head - & most of them had very, very dark grey undercoat. Just my experience.........
